How It Works

High-density screen printing produces a thick, raised, sculpted print with sharp, defined edges and a smooth surface finish. Unlike puff (which rises softly with heat), high-density ink is built up through multiple passes of thick ink deposits through specially prepared low-mesh screens, creating a precise, architectural raised effect.

The Premium Effect

The result is a premium, tactile print with clean lines and consistent height — often compared to embossed or molded rubber patches built directly into the fabric. High-density prints can be matte, glossy, or textured depending on the specific ink and screen setup. This is the most premium dimensional effect available in screen printing.

Visual Effect

Thick, raised, sculpted effect with sharp geometric edges. Can be matte, glossy, or textured. Architectural, premium appearance that instantly signals high-end production quality.

Technical Specs

  • Ink Type: High-viscosity plastisol (specialty formula); multiple thick passes
  • Mesh Count: 25–60 (very low mesh for thick deposit)
  • Cure Temp: ~320°F
  • Best Fabrics: 100% cotton (best), heavier cotton blends. Heavyweight garments handle ink weight better.

Pros

  • Most premium dimensional effect available in screen printing
  • Sharp, architectural edges with consistent height
  • Extremely durable — maintains shape through heavy washing
  • High perceived value that commands premium pricing
  • Strong brand-mark and logo treatment

Limitations

  • Highest cost specialty (specialty ink + multiple passes + slower production)
  • Heavy hand feel and stiffness in print area
  • Limited to simple, bold designs — no fine detail
  • Adds weight to the garment
  • Not suitable for all-over or large-area prints
  • Requires specialty screens and extended setup

Best For

Premium branding, logos, lettering, fashion labels, luxury streetwear, high-end retail merch, sneaker-culture apparel

Fabric Compatibility

100% cotton (best), heavier cotton blends. Heavyweight garments handle the ink weight better.
